My yoga mat is a little piece of heaven; a sacred space; a constant support through life's challenges and celebrations. I teach yoga because I love it. It heals me, nourishes me, and teaches me. I wish to share that love, that powerful spiritual practice, that I believe yoga is, with my students and with the whole world. Teaching yoga is one of the ways I wish to bring more light to the Earth. It's one of the ways I can contribute to healing the planet, and to raising the collective vibration. 

My classes are informed by Spirit, regardless of if it's a power vinyasa, yin, or embodied flow.  They are authentic, creative expressions of my soul; from the playlists I design; to the intelligent, dance-like sequences I create; to the sacred space I set. What truly makes the space sacred, are the beautiful beings that show up on their mats, and fill the room with their energy.  For that I am continually humbled and grateful. My classes are further informed by my life experience, and by my years of spiritual study, as well as traditional study. My background includes; a master's and bachelor's degree in exercise physiology,  2 years of intensive energy healer's training, and over a year study through the Gateway School of Shamanism.  My yoga teacher training is an RYT 200 hour power vinyasa certification through FlyDog Yoga in Charlottesville, VA.  Eliza Whitman, owner of FlyDog, was a huge inspiration for me on my yoga journey.  She was a rockstar, drawing huge crowds every Saturday morning. I was in love with her authenticity, theming, humor and rad playlists.

I have been practicing yoga since 2000, however, it wasn’t until my own healing journey with traumatic brain injuries and adrenal fatigue, that I really deepened my practice. I was completely unable to even attend a yoga class for a few years because of my severe fatigue and post-concussion symptoms. I had to develop my own practice that would heal and energize me. I was incredibly disciplined with my meditation practice and anything that would bring me back to vibrant health. I dove into multiple healing modalities at the same time I was developing my personal yoga practice.  When I was finally able to attend yoga classes again, I was blessed to walk into my rockstar teacher’s class, Eliza. This healing experience informs my teaching as well. And there is not one second that I take my practice, my health, or my strength for granted.

What brings me back to the mat are the sweat-drenched practices where I leave all my "shit" on the mat, that feeling of moving and flowing directly from my heart, the tear-filled savasanas when I've processed deep emotions, the sweet, juicy yins where I can reconnect with my precious inner-child, and those practices where I dig down to my inner warrior and surprise even myself with my strength and determination.

 My intention for my yoga students is that your yoga practice translates to life off the mat, revealing your strength, wisdom, and grace. My sincere prayer, is that each time you step onto your mat, you connect with your radiant core, and remember that you are already perfection and wholeness.  May you step into the flow, of the infinite wave of beauty and love that you are.
